The Association of Indian Physicians of Northern Ohio (AIPNO) is excited to announce the call for abstract submissions for our 12th Annual Research Showcase, which will be held in conjunction with our 41st Annual Gala and 32nd Fundraiser ‘Chirag’ on Saturday, October 26th, 2024, starting at 4 pm at La Centre Conference and Banquet in Westlake, OH.

As a 501(c) non-profit charitable organization founded in 1983 by physicians of Indian Origin from Northeast Ohio, AIPNO has grown to include more than 500 physician members dedicated to excellence in healthcare and community service. Our Annual Gala and Fundraiser support local healthcare organizations and are made possible by the generosity of supporters like you.

We are delighted to invite abstract submissions from a diverse range of trainees, including high school and undergraduate students, medical and graduate students, residents, clinical fellows, and research fellows. This Research Showcase serves as a unique gathering that brings together clinical and basic science researchers from various medical specialties, both within the Greater Cleveland area and beyond.

Key details for the Abstract Submission:

  • Abstract submission deadline: October 15th, 2024
  • Notification of acceptance: October 20th, 2024

The top 80 abstracts, chosen for their outstanding quality and prompt response, will be granted the opportunity for in-person poster presentations at the Research Showcase. The remaining abstracts will be featured in the Research Showcase Proceedings. As a special bonus, the presenting author of each poster will receive a complimentary ticket to attend the Gala.

 

GUIDELINES FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSION AND POSTER PRESENTATION

The abstract submission for the 12th Annual Research Showcase at the AIPNO Gala must adhere to a 500-word limit. Submitted abstracts will be evaluated by a panel of interdisciplinary experts and experienced researchers/ clinicians. The formal in-person evaluation is scheduled for October 26th where both presentation skills and scientific quality will be assessed.

 

Poster presentations should follow the IMRAD format, which includes Introduction, Methods, Results & Discussion

  • The Introduction should provide context, summarize existing knowledge, identify knowledge gaps, and explain how your research addresses these gaps, possibly including a hypothesis.
  • The Methods section must detail the research design, setting, participant enrollment criteria, interventions, outcome variables, and statistical analysis methods.
  • Results should present quantitative data, describe study participants, note exclusions, and provide frequency data for key outcome variables, including subgroup comparisons with numerical results, standard deviations, or 95% confidence limits, indicating statistical significance.
  • The Discussion should succinctly state conclusions supported by the data, avoiding unsubstantial personal opinions. Specific poster size requirements will be communicated upon acceptance of your submission.
